Tucked between picturesque mountain towns, less than an hour from Greenville, SC and Asheville, NC, is the brand new, luxury glamping resort Tuxedo Falls. Aimed to bring adult-focused peace, quiet, and entertainment, this location has been, by far, the most romantic stay me and my husband have found in Western North Carolina. From the moment we arrived it felt upscale. If you are looking for a honeymoon or anniversary glamping experience, this may be the best choice for you.

One of the greatest aspects of Tuxedo Falls is its diversion from anything “commercial.” It utilizes the land, working with it, not against it. It’s unique. Down to the six sleeping units available: two Treehouses custom-built into the tree-line, utilizing real trunks as a base and allowing a few to grow through the floors and ceilings, and four luxury Canvas Tents. Though don’t let the word “tent” fool you. These tents connect bottom to top, come with zippered window panes, and are built into wooden structures to fortify their strength, allowing for real glass doors that lock and unlock for your safety.
Whether you choose a Treehouse or a Luxury Canvas Tent, there are a few things we found in both. Real wood, hand carved, beautifully placed, and most of it local to the area. The treehouses are sturdy, solid wood structures inside and out with ornate wood railings and decor. The Canvas Tents contain wooden tables, back boards, and wooden accents throughout. All six built a little bit different. There is also a spa-like water element in each. The Warbler Treehouse has an outdoor shower with privacy in the open air and the Canvas Tents have soaking tubs on each porch. Both overlook gorgeous and vast views of trees and mountains. Lastly, both styles of stay feature details most places forget: local coffee, gift baskets, fridges with a few munchies already in them, and both a grill and pizza oven.

Some of the most unique features inside the units are heated toilet seats, stylish furnishings, high-end linens, and a few with beds that recline up and down. Though to us, the most impressive feature of Tuxedo Falls was the outdoor space that no human could create, but the right one could maintain. And maintain they did. About 3.5 miles of hand-cut, rock-placed, winding hiking trails loop around the resort. Their helpful map leads you to no less than five private waterfalls, two trout fishing streams, across multiple sturdy creek bridges, and immerses you amongst falling yellow leaves in fall, frozen rivers in winter, wild flowers in spring, and fireflies in the summer. Make sure to book your stay to see the Blue Ghost Fireflies as soon as possible. They expect the last two weeks in May to fill up fast for this natural phenomena.
If you are the fly-fishing type, you can easily book a tour with the Appalachian fly fishing specialists at Hendersonville Outfitters. Tuxedo Falls can easily make that call for you as well once you book your stay. The fishing on property does have to be guided, so it’s smart to plan ahead. If you’re more into the city-exploring kind of vibe, its an easy drive to Hendersonville, Saluda and Brevard, all three are quaint little mountain towns with breweries, coffee shops, and stores. You will find many of the gifts in your unit from one of these three cities. Or if you want to take it easy and stay near your tent or treehouse, simply unroll one of the provided yoga mats on your private porch, grab provided binoculars from the drawer for bird watching, or tap into the provided wifi and listen to music accompanied by the sound of river water below.

My husband and I spent a considerable amount of time doing three things: playing games, eating, and talking with the owners. The Community Lodge is the newest addition to Tuxedo Falls and home to everyone. Featuring games, puzzles, a television, crafts, and so much more, this is where we made friends with the other guests and challenged each other to a little competition. As for the eating, I would strongly advise purchasing their food kit options. They have pizza kits, steak and potato kits, and breakfast kits available. This made our packing, cooking, and meal prep so incredibly easy and delicious. Lastly, when you book your stay, be prepared to meet the kindest hosts. This resort is their passion project and it is evident they love making their guests feel welcome in every touch. You won’t regret booking with Tuxedo Falls, it’s more than just a “stay” it’s an experience.
