No matter which list you check, Grand Canyon National Park will ALWAYS be at the top for the best stargazing in the United States. Billions of gas balls blaze brightly above. In fact, many of the cities surrounding the canyon are designated “Dark Skies” to enhance their visibility. Meaning, very little light pollution is there to disrupt God’s natural nightlight. Williams Arizona, or more specifically, the 40 acres around the WyldStay Grand Canyon Glamping site, is a designated Dark Sky location because of its proximity to the Grand Canyon itself. Even with a full moon during our stay, the twinkling above was so prevalent, it rivaled a normal city on a normal moon night.

The stars aren’t the only magical part of staying at WyldStay Grand Canyon however. It is conveniently located to so many cool things: 37 miles from Bearizona Wild Life Park, only 15 miles from the Grand Canyon, great hiking options, Kaibob National Park, and 42 miles from the Grand Canyon Deer Farm where you can pet, feed, and visit deer all year long. If you’re driving from Phoenix towards WyldStay Grand Canyon, it also provides a great opportunity to see the last town bypassed by interstate 40 on Historic Route 66. If you’ve seen the Disney movie Cars, this is it, in real life: equal parts old west and modern tourism. Also, the glamping community is easy to find. GPS has zero issues. Quick tip before arriving, I recommend visiting the Safeway grocery store 22 miles from site for supplies at the base of Williams. The next nearest general store is a Chevron gas station about 15 minutes away; if you need something in a pinch though, it’s quite nice!
Once you’ve made it to WyldStay Grand Canyon, you’ll experience a few things: intense quiet and peace unlike any other —sans the wind in your ears and the occasional raven cry— and if you are in tune with energy and energy healing, you may notice a shift in your mood or vigor. WyldStay Grand Canyon was built around an earthly vortex. Beyond the way our bodies react, the spiraling tree trunks as they twist are a pivotal sign that this is a point of concentrated energy flow. Many people believe this enhances meditation, self-discovery and spiritual growth.
In fact, owner Dawn has 20 years of massage therapy and energy experience. She is a healer, at least to me and my husband who experienced her massage technique. Opening WyldStay Grand Canyon allowed her to bring good into the world, to help it heal through nature. Which is exactly how you feel when you enter this resort: one with nature. From the burlap, canvas tents that match the Arizona dust to the crystal exposure in every tent, WyldStay Grand Canyons goal is to help heal each person that visits. To bring joy, peace, relaxation and intimacy to every person on their vast, flat land with views of the San Fransisco Snow capped mountain peeks, deep colored clay of the Red Butte, and darkest of nights.

So where do you actually sleep? There are three luxury tents and twelve regular tents, all perfectly placed where Dawn felt the land call. Each location, item, and interior setting were strategically chosen based on intuitive decision. The three luxury tents are immaculate as well. Each one sleeps 2-4 people, has a functional kitchen, a fully furnished bathroom, beautiful decor, engineered hardwood flooring, air conditioning, heating and the largest is 550 sq ft. That is HUGE for a tent. These are the epitome of glamping luxury.
The twelve red butte tents are a little closer to the glamping I am familiar with. These sleep 2-4 people and the windows and doors are zippered screens instead of latched doors with bathrooms a few minutes walk away. However, WyldStay Grand Canyon is special in comparison to other glamping sites because of their attention to detail. The Bedding, design, decor, and furniture inside each tent was perfectly chosen. Unlike other communities, everything on site is solar powered, every unit comes with provided waters, a cooler, battery powered charging station and access to a grill for cooking. With the 40 degree swing in temperatures that can be experienced, every unit has a propane heater as well. Every tent on site –not just the luxury ones, take glamping to the next level.
Most glamping communities space their units 30-60 ft apart, here, each unit is 100-200 sq ft apart to provide extra privacy, and even more impressive is that each luxury unit is placed on their own acre of land. There is a 2-night minimum stay and checkin times are normal, but the owners are extremely accommodating should something arise. They provided my husband and I with everything we needed: Ice for the cooler, a tea kettle upon request, towels, toiletries, napkins because we had forgotten ours. I can’t say enough nice things about how far above and beyond they went to make us feel welcome.
Their future is certainly bright. With their grand opening right around the corner, we cant wait to come back and see their dreams come to life. Dreams of yoga retreats, spiritual awakenings, farm-to-table dinners with the grass-fed cattle that naturally walk their land. No tree was removed during the building process, so I am eager to see them grow in years to come, and if you’re local to the area, you’ll always receive special attention and discount detail.

There are many plans ahead for this glamping community, including a communal fire pit where songs will be sung and stories will be told should be finished in the coming weeks as well. If you plan to stay with WyldStay Grand Canyon, take advantage of the spa treatments offered. The entire team working to relieve stress and heal the body are well trained and devoted to making a difference. There is something beautiful about experiencing body healing on a physical level when it is so prevalently happening on a spiritual one during your stay on such a sacred site. They also happen to be the only holistic spa in the Grand Canyon area, just saying.
This truly was a special stay. Beyond the tents themselves being pure luxury, the connection to the land was inherently obvious, even to someone like me who isn’t super familiar with that side of nature. I am not sure how much I believe in energy or crystal healing, but if anything could make me a believer, it is this location. Wild things happened in my body and the peace both my husband and I felt was amazing. This stay wasn’t about us entertaining ourselves and more about just being in existence —at peace with the world, which is something we all need a little more of in today’s day and age.
Check out WyldStay’s availability here, and catch a glimpse inside one of the tents here. Follow me on instagram to see our next glamping stay, and stick around for the next time we make it out to this location, because it will absolutely happen within the next year or two.
