New and Unique Glamping Community in South Carolina

A new glamp-ground has opened in South Carolina, and I am itching to share the news with you. Field Trip Travelers Rest was not only clean and incredibly easy to find, but the amount of “cool things” to do here is endless. We’re talking sling shot ranges, wood-fired hot tubs, saunas, community fire pits, and a micro-farm. Whether you’re traveling with family, traveling with a partner for a romantic weekend getaway, solo traveling, or you’re looking for a place to host your next group retreat, read on to learn how Field Trip Travelers Rest could be your answer.

Let’s talk logistics, they opened March of 2025 and have 23 units. Six Bell Tents that can sleep up to 8, six canvas cabins that can sleep up to 5, six geo-domes that can host 3 people comfortably, four A-frames that sleep 2 for the solo and couple travelers, and they even have an ADA accessible canvas tent which sleeps 2. Very few glamping experiences in the offer this kind of accessibility. And there are very few glamping opportunities in the South East in general. Plus, it’s such a beautiful thing to have options that entice people to come back to year after year. Their ultimate goal is to create a space for just that; traditions and reunions. They aim to make each guest feel so welcomed, so loved, and so comfortable, that they return year after year.

“They” being owners Kelsey Earle and Sarah Mudder. It was such a joy to see a women-owned business take root. Both gals were on the property during my stay, greeting guests, organizing rooms, and prepping for a bright future ahead. A future that will eventually include pickleball courts, an amphitheater, community fire pits, a U-pick flower farm, excursions to an on-site bee farm, and a growing micro-farm. The micro-farm quickly caught my attention as they’ve begun the building process. I was warmly greeted by laying hens, two puppy-like sweet goats, and the softest bunnies. It won’t surprise me at all if the gardens they are planting will help self-sustain their glamp-ground and bring even more joy to its patrons as well.

Animals don’t stop at the micro-farm however, this place is pet-friendly. In fact, it is “a lot of things” friendly. They were kind enough to provide on-site laundry, internet within the lodge, a camp store incase you forget any essentials, coffee from Canvas Coffee Art in Greenville South Carolina, and all the freshly chopped wood you may need for a very reasonable price. My husband and I played on-site games in the lodge, warmed ourselves with complimentary tea, and made friends with the other guests.

Couple things to note, if you decide to follow our lead and stay with Field Trip, the bathrooms are community friendly, and although you do not need to bring your own towel -they provide those- I recommend bringing flip-flops and a robe. The sauna, cold plunge and hot tub are community friendly as well, so you will have a two-to-three minute walk between your unit and these luxury activities.

As the Field Trip Travelers Rest Glamping community is located only 10 minutes from Travelers Rest, South Carolina and only 20 minutes from beautiful Hendersonville, it would be easy to spend a few days here. If you didn’t want to cook over their provided Blackstone grill or an open flame, you could dine in Travelers Rest at Coastal Crust, Community Tap, Tandem Creperie, or even take a hike or chase a waterfall near Hendersonville. Also, the site is family friendly, however the staff are very thoughtful in where they place you for your stay. If you would like a more quiet space, just ask, and if you have kiddos, I bet they will walk away with a new friend or two.

Check out Field Trip Travelers Rest and see if they are the right fit for you. If you want a visual peek into what it’s like on-site, check out my instagram video here. If your’e looking for something a little less glamping but more “G”lamping with a fancier “G” then read my blog about our recent Geodome stay in Asheville, North Carolina here, just keep in mind, prices reflect the fanciness.

No matter how you glamp, I highly encourage all types. There is no better way to camp than “roughing it” on an open fire, then having the luxury of sleeping in a real bed, that someone else makes for you.

Happy glamping!
